Chanel has historically been the ultimate brand in apparel, jewelry, and fragrance, and entered the world of fine timepieces with the intention of producing the finest quality and most interesting designs available today. Unlike many popular brands, Chanel did not outsource the production of their timepieces, rather Chanel has their own factory in Switzerland with a team of world renowned watch makers on staff. 

The Chanel "J12" line of watches for men and women, introduced by Chanel in 2000, is available in only two (2) colors: Black and White. Each, according to Gabrielle Chanel, "Possess absolute beauty". These timepieces are produced from one of the most interesting and high technology materials available today, a solid ceramic material similar to what is found on the exterior of the Space Shuttle. Chanel J12's are only produced in two (2) colors: Black and White. The line begins with a "ladies" 33MM model which features a quartz movement. This is considered the "entry level" watch, at the lowest price point. The most popular, for most women and some men, is the "mid-size" model, the 38MM. The 38MM Chanel 12 features a fine swiss automatic movement. The next level up in size is generally purchased by men, and includes the GMT, Chronograph, and last but not least the exclusive Tourbillon model.

Many other brands have copied the general look of the Chanel watches, but side-by-side there is no substitute for the look and feel of the authentic Chanel timepiece. Additionally, buyers must beware of the many "replica" Chanels that are sold on the internet and especially on eBay and other auction sites. A consumer should always consider what they are buying and especially from whom they are buying to be sure they are at ease with their purchase and assured to receive an authentic timepiece.
